Over the years, Reaching Women and Children and all of its events have always been personally funded by our Founder, Monique Govender, and on occasion, the odd donation from our supporters. Longevity and sustainability of the organisation has been largely due to the time and efforts freely extended by a dedicated group of volunteers and directors who do not depend on a salary from Reaching Women and Children.

All of our programmes and events are absolutely free of charge to our public. We strongly believe in giving every person an equal opportunity to attend any or all of our events and it is for this specific reason that we choose that there be no financial burdens placed on any of the women and children who attend.

In the last few years, Reaching Women and Children had several projected goals:

  • “Not Just Coffee”
  • Music Classes
  • Complete Repair and Renovation of School Computer Room
  • Training Programmes and Workshops conducted by our International Associates
  • Training Course for Mentors in the Schools
  • To change the next generation – Life coaching and Student Christian Fellowship
  • Specific education and social events for our women and families all year through.

With much appreciation to our team of volunteers, we can say that all our projected goals were accomplished and continue to make an impact in our community, with the exception of acquiring computers and a Training Centre for our continued training program.

This year, Reaching Women and Children has big plans and several more goals for our women and children’s projects and we would like to share some of our plans with you:

  1. We are hoping to receive enough funding that will assist us in buying/leasing a designated building/venue for Reaching Women and Children Events and our Training Centre. Our organisation is looking for a venue that we can call “our own”. At this venue, we are hoping to carry out:
  • A Computer Literacy Programme For Women
  • A Financial Planning and Accounting Education
  • Sewing Classes
  • Ongoing Motivational Talks on goal setting, building stronger family relationships, drug prevention, growing your money and assets, starting a business.
  • A special 6 week Mentorship and Training Programme for women who want to help our children
  • A Mentorship Apprentice Programme for young women who have recently graduated
  • A Place to gather – to provide friendship and create a support system for the Community

2. Our organisation would like to acquire computers for our recently renovated School Computer Room.

3.Conduct a Research Programme on “The Role of Family Structure on Student Motivation”, and seek to help them at their point of need.

4. Initiate a Special Programme helping parents, to be more involved in their children’s life and schooling, emotionally, mentally and physically

5. We would like to acquire computers for our Women’s Computer Literacy Programme.

6. We require a projector and other supplies for our Training Centre.

7. Reaching Women would greatly appreciate any kind of financial support in order to continue carrying out all of our ‘free of charge’ Women’s Events, Girls Programmes, Student Training Programmes ( please see Reaching Women and Children’s School Initiative ), Mentorship Programmes, as well as our Women’s Computer Literacy Programmes and  Financial Workshops.

Our organisation has a great vision for the year ahead, as well as for the years to follow and we’re hoping that with the right support and financial aid, we can go even further in continuing to change, improve and touch the lives of the many women and children that the Reaching Women and Children organisation comes into contact with.

Yours sincerely,

Monique Govender
